Hello filmfestfans!
Couple of exciting, close-to-the-wire, edge-of-yer-seat type programme additions/amendments to tell you about…Tonight, is THIS one:
IOMFF2013 Opening Night Event: Weds 11th, Peel Centenary Centre ‘Just Showing Off’
Amend: SPECIAL GUEST Added to line up!
We’re thrilled to be able to confirm that Sundance London Winner Danny Lumb will now be joining Director Andy Blackburn for our Opening night event.
Andy and Danny were both taught at the former Manx Multimedia Centre, before moving to London to start careers in the industry.
Andy went on to be shortlisted for BBC3’s Young Filmmaker of the Year at the age of 19. He now works as a Director for London production house ‘Pride and Joy’, (watch his showreel here) but in his spare time he works on film projects with Danny and fellow Manx creative Andrew Harmer (who is in post production on his own much-talked about debut feature ‘The Fitzroy‘)
Danny works as one half of Director duo ‘The Queen’ for Th1ng2 Productions. His short film ‘Extrajnero’ was screened at IOMFF 2012 and went on to the Best Short Film award at Sundance London and be screened at various festivals around the world. You can now watch it in full here.
Still very much in touch with their Island roots, Andy came back last year to work as 1st AD on MannIN Shorts film ‘Solace in Wicca’, while Danny was involved in shooting London-based interviews for the DAM Productions Isle of Man documentary ‘The Watchmaker’s Apprentice’.
The evening will be run at the Centenary Centre in association with Films in Peel. It will feature previews of the pairs’ latest work – including Andy’s debut feature ‘Being Nice’ – a Q&A session which will also feature Andy’s lead actor Jessica Francis (who is coming to the Island especially for the event) and a ten minute ‘Making Of’ presentation.
Tickets priced £5 from Celtic Gold in Peel, or by reservation through HMV, Shakti Man and Thompson Travel.
