ISLE OF MAN FILM FESTIVAL - 7-10th September 2017
p1467463167-4

Short but Sweet: Sunday afternoon at IOMFF

Last night saw a packed house at the Broadway Cinema for the headline event of 2017’s Isle of Man Film Festival. The audience were treated to a recap of the year in film so far, and were moved by tributes to two men who are dear to the festival; Steve Christian – one of the pioneers of the Isle of Man film industry and friend of the festival, Sir John Hurt. Friends, family and colleagues of both men were in attendance last night.

A very poignant moment came when Mark invited Johns wife, Anwen, to the stage. Anwen talked about how important the Isle of Man was to John, who has visited several times, the last being as guest of the Isle of Man Film Festival in 2015.

After a short break, the audience were treated to rare cinema screening of the cult horror film, Alien (1975)

Following on from a brilliant night, this morning saw us screening our shortlisted entries for our 6th annual International Short Film Competition.

In just 30 minutes, we’ll be announcing the winners – best of luck, everyone!
