There was a time…

The brainchild of Dave Armstrong and Christy DeHaven of Isle of Man production company DAM Ltd, the inaugural Isle of Man Film Festival took place September 14th-16th 2012 at the Broadway Cinema, Villa Marina, Douglas Isle of Man.

Supported by the Isle of Man Arts Council, the aim was to bring “inspiring, enlightening, entertaining and varied filmic fun – with some stellar special guests – to the Island”. The festival was also inspired by a need to have screening opportunities for the increasing number of films being made on the Isle of Man by Manx filmmakers, not least those created through Dave and Christy’s film training scheme MannIN Shorts.

Festival No.2 took place from Wednesday 11th to Sunday 15th September 2013. The expanded five day festival saw sold out events happening across the Isle of Man, including:

  • The Future Shorts Fringe
  • Gala Opening Night in association with Films In Peel
  • Free weekend Family Cinema Screening
  • Free Lunchtime Mini Movies at the Strand
  • Isle of Man Film’s ‘The Disappearance of Alice Creed’ with writer/director J Blakeson Q&A
  • Chris Jones world renowned 2-day Guerilla Filmmakers Workshop
