IOMFF’s Inaugural Movie Pub Quiz

Each year, the Isle of Man Film Festival hosts an event in numerous locations on the same evening. In the interest of reaching out beyond the capital, Douglas, the festival has chosen boutique venues in different parts of the Island to engage more of the community. For the past few festivals, the evening has centred around FUTURE SHORTS, the largest short film network in the world; audiences in each venue watch the same programme of experimental short films and discuss them as a group.

This year, we wanted to hold on to the idea of community outreach around the Island, but try something a little different… So inspired by our friends at the Shetland Arts festival, held a week before ours each September and supported by our patron Mark Kermode, we decided to hold a pub-style movie quiz in different venues.

This year, we’re involving new venues: in the North it’s The Trafalgar Inn in Ramsey; in the South it’s The Albert in Port St Mary; in the East, it’s The Alpine in Douglas; and in the West, it’s The Creek in Peel. We’re excited to link all the locations together on the night, where teams of up to 5 people will fight it out for prizes and prestige.

Thank you to our new venues for allowing us to take over on the Thursday of festival week – 8th September from 7pm – and to our special sponsor for the night, the Steam Packet Company. We look forward to seeing you at your local venue; spaces are filling up fast so please email your booking request to zoe@isleofmanfilmfestival.com.
