The coming year is a special one for the Isle of Man. As ‘Island of Culture 2014’ it will be “a year to celebrate the Island through dance, music, theatre, the visual arts and literature, cultural festivals, film and digital innovation, and leave a lasting legacy for creativity and the arts on the Isle of Man.” (source: http://www.islandofculture.im/)

And, of course, ‘Film’ is where we come in!

We are in the process of building a new website for IOMFF2014, and have some exciting plans for the coming year – including interim events and workshops, ‘Audience With..’ events and much more.

Also, our sister organisation, the Isle of Man filmmaking and training scheme ‘MannIN Shorts’, is growing considerably in 2014, with the exciting development of both creative and financial support from Isle of Man Film, alongwith continued support from the Arts Council. So expect a lot more opportunities in filmmaking from the ground up!

In fact, MannIN Shorts have launched their 2014 Screenwriting Competition, so if you have an idea that you’d like to see made into a short film, under the professional guidance of the scheme and working alongside brilliant passionate people – not to mention having the chance to have your film  included in our programme of the film festival – visit mannishorts.com asap. The first deadline is Jan 24th!

In the meantime, we’ll see you very soon with our shiny new website and details about how YOU can get involved in IOMFF2014. ..
